The Solution:
To create positive media coverage around the official announcement and launch of Trafalgar 200 – the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Admiral Lord Nelson – with emphasis on sponsorship opportunities. Working with The Royal Navy, the Ministry of Defence and the event management team.
The Solution:
Established a Trafalgar 200 Press Office with dedicated phone line and media relations team to pro-actively promote Trafalgar 200 in addition to logging and reporting on all media activity and keeping the Royal Navy constantly updated. Provided creative and technical know how in preparation of all press material and marketing communication documents. Media strategy and liaison work was undertaken including management of broadcast and print journalists and photographers at launch event; overseeing media Q&A session with Minister for the Armed Forces; and arranging one-to-one interviews with The First Sea Lord at the MOD and in Trafalgar Square.
The Results:
Positive coverage for the Royal Navy with call to action editorials targeting potential sponsors. Large chunks of copy and pictures appeared in nearly every national newspaper with First Sea Lord interviews broadcast on BBC and independent radio as well as TV news programmes.
